We take Mission very seriously both in our praying and our giving.

HOME MISSION

We are in membership with the Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB) and through the Home Mission scheme support mission in this country.

BMS WORLD MISSION

As Baptists we primarily support overseas work through BMS World Mission (three of our members have served overseas with BMS). We also support Operation Agri through the Farming Partners scheme and with our Harvest giving.

Through BMS we have a Link with Alex and Jackie Vickers, who are going to work in Uganda in August. Alex will be working with Ugandan Baptists, helping rural communities to rebuild their lives as they return to villages and farms laid waste by rebels in the '90's.  Jackie will be assisting Ugandan educationalists to improve standards of schooling.  Harriet and Bethany will attend Rainbow International School in Kampala. In May they came before the Baptist Union Assembly (pictured here). In an uplifting and moving act of dedication, the Assembly prayed for all those involved in BMS Mission service; and gave their blessing and warm encouragement to Alex, Jackie, Harriet and Bethany in their calling to Uganda.

Alex has a new article posted on the BMS webside. It gives a very inspirational insight into the work he is doing. Click here to read it.

 CHRISTIAN AID

As members of the Christians Together in Bideford, we support the many events arranged in aid of Christian Aid.

A church stall is held on the Forecourt each week during the summer months (weather permitting!). items sold include plants,preserves,bric-a-brac, toys and games, books,CD's etc. All proceeds go to charitable causes supported by the Church.  So far this year, funds have been raised for Baptist Home Missions, Christian Aid,  Bideford Street Pastors, BMS, Shelterbox,  and the BMS Relief Appeal for Pakistan.

We also try to show our care and compassion to the distressed in our area by supporting the Harbour project with practical gifts of tins and dried goods.  We also have a link with a local women's refuge which we support with food gifts at Harvest time and gifts at Christmas, as well as being ready to help with other needs as they crop up.
